Thank you so much for being part of the vision for the Cambodia School Project. Please let us continue to pray and seek God's direction and guidance for this important project.
The Cambodia School Project PIF’s heartfelt vision is to change the world one classroom at a time in order to prepare today's children to be sound Christian leaders of tomorrow. Our hope is to reach the children of Cambodia by building schools with quality education including excellent staff, facilities, and curriculum. We believe by equipping and empowering people, they are able to impact their nation. We hope to launch construction of a preschool in the Fall of 2011 which will be followed by a primary school, a secondary school, a medical center, and more.
Cambodia Located in Southeast Asia and bordered by Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, Cambodia is an impoverished country that was devastated by years of civil war and genocide. After five years of civil war, a communist group named Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot, ruled from the years 1975 to 1979. Extremely suspicious of capitalism and Western ideals, the Khmer Rouge sought to instill an agrarian communist society completely void of any trace of Western influence. This extreme form of social engineering led to genocide on a mass scale in sites called the “Killing Fields,” with an estimated death of 2 million people from execution, forced labor, and starvation. The people of Cambodia still struggle with many issues such as extreme poverty, homelessness, child trafficking, prostitution, lack of education, and malnutrition.
