Cambodia is currently one of the poorest countries in the world.  The people of Cambodia still experience the effects of the 1975 genocide of the Khmer Rouge regime daily.  The devastation from war and genocide left the country in severe poverty, from which stem many problems such as homelessness, joblessness, prostitution, child trafficking, malnutrition and lack of education.

In 2008, PIF sent a short-term mission team to Cambodia.  During the trip, the team drove cross- country and saw the harsh conditions of the people and was tremendously convicted and heart-broken by it.  Learning about the history of Cambodia and seeing the country first-hand, the team couldn’t help but ask the Lord to use us to do something to help the people, especially the children.

Recently PIF established the Promise Kids Foundation, which is a child sponsorship program in which PIF members provide financial assistance to children from Nicaragua.  We are hoping to extend this program to Cambodia and allow our members to help provide the basic necessities of the children we sponsor.
